M83 CONTINUES SOLD-OUT AUSTRALIAN TOUR THIS WEEK!


Following an outstanding weekend with performances at both Melbourne and Sydney Laneway festivals, French dream-pop artist M83 will continue his run of sold out shows as he visits Sydney this week.

Closing the main stage at both festivals, M83’s performance – which featured Saxophonist Millie Hall of Sydney band Bridezilla – has already receive a wave of praise. Fasterlouder described it as a “‘how-to’ festival performance…the set went from zero to epic in about a minute”, while Music Feeds declared the set a “standout”. Hall will again join M83 at his Sydney show this week.

The shows come as M83’s track “Midnight City” was voted in at #5 in the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown, after being declared the ‘Best Track of 2011’ by international media powerhouses Pitchfork and Stereogum. ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ – the album “Midnight City” is taken from – was also widely applauded, being named ‘Best Album of 2011’ by Fader Magazine, also ranking in the same category at #2 by Under The Radar and #3 by Pitchfork.

‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ marks Gonzalez’s return after his fifth release, 2008’s critically acclaimed ‘Saturdays = Youth’, which saw M83 invited to tour alongside Kings of Leon in the UK, The Killers in America, Depeche Mode throughout Europe and Midnight Juggernauts here in Australia. The group returned to our shores in again in 2009, playing across the country as part of V Festival whilst treating fans to some headline sideshows along the East Coast.
